Rating of business press among representatives of small and medium sized business in Tashkent (1.04.01)
Rating of press among representatives of small and
medium-sized business (Tashkent)

In January - February, 2001 Favorit-Inform Ltd. (IMC Tashkent-Moscow) carried out marketing research devoted to reveal the most popular magazines and newspapers among businessmen. The sample comprised 100 directors and top managers of enterprises with various kinds of ownership and fields of activity.


The results of the research allowed to provide the following conclusions:

1. Magazines.

According to research, the most popular magazines are: "PressTIJ" (78% of respondents), "Economic review" (50%), "Optovik" and "Tasvir" (39%). Less popular are "Uzbekistan Airways" (11%), "Market, money and credit" (5%), "Tax bearer magazine" (5%), "Business - courier" (5%) and "Manager" (5%). 10 % of respondents do not read local magazines, and half of them (5%) prefers to capture information from Internet.

2. Newspapers.

As for newspapers, the most of businessmen read "Business Report" (61%) and "Trud" / "Trud 7" (50%). "Narodnoe slovo" (39%), "Nalogovie i tamojennie vesti" (33%), "Arguments and facts" (33%) are also popular among respondents. The least popular are "Pravda Vostoka" (11%), "Vostochnie vesti" (11%), "Vecherniy Tashkent" (5%), "ECO" (5%) and "News of week" (5%). 10 % of respondents prefer Russian newspapers, and half from them (5%) regularly read Russian "Kommersant daily".
